He meant to slay this monster as he plunged his sword into the dragon's neck, yet the villager's sword clanged harmlessly off of the dragon's scales which only resulted in awakening the beast.
Looking down, he hoped the ground would hurry up. Shutting his eyes as hard as he could he awaited whichever doom came first, both equally unpleasant.
Chapter 2.
The villager woke up sputtering hay from his mouth……….
Eyes opening lazily and seeing the sword gleaming off the moonlit floor the dragon was now awoken and enraged.
Scrambling its huge bulk and now towering over the terrified villager a growl arose shaking the large cave in the side of the mountain. The dragon opened his mouth wide showing endless rows of sharp teeth. Inhaling the monster began drawing all the air in the cave into his chest. The villager grew light headed as he watched the dragons chest expand.
The beast now blew what the villager expected to be his doom. Awaiting to be engulfed in flame he was frozen. But no fire came out of the dragon’s mouth, just a huge gust of wind. The plume of the dragon’s breath plucked him from the slick floor of the cave and launched him into the air. Propelling him out of the cave and plunging him off the side of the mountain.
Regaining his senses, the villager found himself now tumbling through the air off the side of the steep mountain. As he was falling and falling, he caught a glimpse of the dragon heaving itself off the mountainside. Spreading its wings against the backdrop of stars above, the neck craned downward and the dragon dived straight for him. The villager shuddered. No longer sure which he feared more; falling to his doom or being caught midair by that angry beast.
Looking down, he hoped the ground would hurry up. Shutting his eyes as hard as he could he awaited whichever doom came first, both equally unpleasant.
After falling and falling the villager could not figure out why it was taking the ground so long to show up. Becoming brave, he cracked open a slit of his eye to find he was high above the mountain that he had once been falling from. He was acutely aware he was now falling in the wrong direction. Gazing up he now knew why. Above him was nothing but the massive belly of a very angry dragon! The villager, exhausted, then became limp in the massive claws as he flew over his village far below.
